A Rainy Day at Kwanderosa Farm

Today, the cold wind whistles through the fields, reminding me that life on the farm does not pause for personal trials. The mud squelches underfoot as I make my way to the chicken coop. Despite the inclement weather, the animals maintain their routine, offering a sense of normalcy amid my own discomfort as I am currently recovering from wrist surgery. As I navigate the slippery terrain, I realize how much the farm reflects what I wish to be; close to God, sturdy and full of life, and what I currently am; fraught with challenges.

Each morning at Kwanderosa begins with a checklist, ensuring that every aspect of farm life runs smoothly. Each morning starts with reasons I cannot lay in bed and feel sorry for myself. I have adapted my tasks to accommodate my temporary, and permanent limitations. Straining my wrist this morning is not an option, so I rely more on my husband. God has been teaching me that resilience isn’t just about overcoming challenges; it's about leaning on those around you when you cannot stand alone.

The continuous pulse of farm operations does not relent with the onslaught of rain. Feeding schedules persist, and the need for clean water is constant. Despite my own physical restraints, the clock does not pause. The responsibilities are many—hay needs to be distributed, animals checked, and the barn mucked out. Each task symbolizes the undying rhythm of rural life that beats on, regardless of personal struggles.

The familiar smells of wet earth and hay bring clarity; for its not just the land tending that nourishes the soul, but also the act of nurturing the animals that call this place home. It becomes evident that caring for my farm transcends personal struggles.

Even in adverse weather, there’s a certain splendor in the way life persists. It is a reminder that not all beauty lies in sunlight and clear skies. The bonds formed through shared experiences, the laughter of children as they mimic the ducks, and the persistent nature of farming showcase that much like the weather, life flows in cycles of struggle and fulfillment. Good or bad, farm life is relentless.

Remember, even on the dreariest of days, there is a resilience to be found—that in hardship, we grow, adapt, and flourish alongside the living tapestry of the farm. So, the next time dark clouds gather, remember to find joy amidst the challenges. Embrace the rain, for it is where beauty flourishes most vibrantly.

It's a lesson worth sharing, not just in farming, but in every aspect of life—seeing God in dark places leads the way to a thriving existence.
